ZuP Documents Life-Changing Events on Latest Album ‘For Me’

Jeremy Bregman

“I wanted to write an album about feeling lost and finding yourself again”. These are the words of Ohio-based vocalist and producer ZuP speaking about his brand new release ‘For Me’. Recorded between 2021 and 2023, the eleven-track album breezes between pop, rock, hip-hop, R&B, and everything in between. Not wanting to be placed in a “genre box”, ZuP gets to work whenever and wherever the inspiration hits. If it feels right, he just goes with it. ‘Jackie Intro’ gets the album underway, and features a snippet of a voice recording left for ZuP. “Just remember, God doesn’t give you anything that you can’t handle”.

‘Lost and Found’, with its ‘Big In Japan’ inspired guitar, is the album’s second tune. Now it’s ZuP’s time to shine, and he doesn’t disappoint! His rich and velvety vocals draw you in straight away, and a sexy saxophone courtesy of Matt LeSuer makes brief but hypnotising appearances. ‘Recharge’ follows in a similar vein, and now you’re really getting sucked into the mesmerizing sounds of ZuP.

I won’t ruin the rest of the album for you. But, trust me, you’re going to want to give it a listen. ZuP’s ability to seamlessly weave between genres and styles is truly something to behold.
