We have always loved delving into the leftfield and the avant-garde, and when we came across Zságer Balázs’ latest effort ‘Aqua Obscura’, we instantly made it a goal to share the record on our platform. First off – that’s not a record for everyone. Incredibly hazy, textural and dark, the album guides the listeners on a complex and poignant metaphorical journey evoking self-reflection and artistic catharsis.
A prominent figure in the Hungarian electronic scene, Zságer Balázs was namely inspired by “the mystical folklore and rituals surrounding water”, a quality that can be found in the ‘liquid’ and transformative nature of the sonic matter. Built over long soundscapes, noisy field recordings and hypnotising harmonic clusters, ‘Aqua Obscura’ completely takes over our attention, initiating a magical, meaningful journey that directly touches our inner consciousness.
The release also features a healthy amount of kaleidoscopic visuals, delivered in collaboration with creative Dorina Takács. A stunning, rewarding record.
