While catching the listener’s attention nowadays it’s rather difficult, it helps if your music is actually good. That’s the case for Zoe Bayani, young talent with a knack for evocative and cathartic pop jewels. Stuck between indie, folk and relatable melodies, the Atlanta-based songstress crowns it all with her luscious vocal tone. Writing about her previous effort ‘Dashboard’, we proudly declared it “a truly exquisite track from a ridiculously gifted musician”.
We stand by our words. Bayani’s latest album, ‘You Don’t Want Help’, confirms it all. In it, there’s a curious convergence of Americana-style guitars, dreamy indie matter and loud pop choruses, often even jumping into rebellious punk outros. Frankly, it’s a highly eclectic formula that marks the project as a rare find: forgetting any industry trend, Zoe Bayani pursues her own path, one that’s steeped in lyrical energy and instrumental blissfulness.
Speaking about the album, she explains: “I have never found solace in just explaining my emotions to my friends, family, therapists, etc. I’d rather just belt out my emotions to what feels like a void”.
