Yvonne Lyon & Boo Hewerdine Share Stunning LP ‘Things Found In Books’

Not all albums need to be ground-breaking. Some just aim to deliver a slice of heartwarming simplicity and intriguing lyricism. That’s exactly what one encounters in ‘Things Found In Books’, the latest effort by industry voyagers Yvonne Lyon and Boo Hewerdine. Both highly respected songwriters and vocalists, the pair unveils today what can be considered a masterpiece of elegance and lusciousness.

Wrapping their blissful imagery in classical elements and folk-lenient warmth, Lyon and Hewerdine draw inspiration from a second-hand bookshop in Culzean Castle and its message board, featuring lost notes and findings from such books. Revealing mysterious fragments of life and personal experiences, such a curious occurrence helps the two British troubadours evoke a fictional universe, one where their storytelling is rather buoyant and kind, but also memorable and meaningful.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the album, the pair shares: “‘Things Found In Books’ is an album of songs written in response to this notice board, that celebrates the ordinary lives of those on the Scottish coast.” The result is frankly wonderful, further augmented by Yvonne and Boo’s cathartic, expressive vocals.
