Behind ‘Stuck’ there’s obviously a clear artistic vision. Relatable and catchy pop matter with an acoustic influence, the EP sees young songstress Sloan Treacy unveiling her incredible songwriting and vocal talent. At just 15 years old, the LA-based creative appears ready for a global audience, although it’s probably just the start of a long, illustrious career – no rush.
Delving into ‘Stuck’, the keen listeners are confronted with five soothing and stunning offerings. Opening with the acoustic, folk-flavoured ‘Mastermind of Madness’, the EP start laying out its lyrical premise. Exploring Treacy’s personal experience and early teenage angst, the record continues with the title track, an anthemic and nostalgic jewel that’s incredibly expansive and lovable.
From there on, the EP finds its groove in delicate textures, acoustic guitars and more gritty outros. The closing episode ‘Forever and Always’ is particularly poignant and evocative. Speaking about the record, Sloan explains: “This EP is really the perfect example of what happens when I’m left alone with my thoughts and need to find the words that will make everything make sense.”
