Yodashe Shares Conceptual Piece ‘Salarywomxn’

‘Salarywomxn’ is certainly not a record for everyone. Drenched in avant-garde and conceptual electronica, the track flourishes on sequential drums and haunting, dark synthesizers, creating an eerie yet hard-hitting piece that will leave the listener hypnotized and transformed. In a sense, it’s a record that aims to evoke a reaction. Not just background music, ‘Salarywomxn’ is modern art, and it needs to be approached as such – with a deeper understanding of the context behind it and the reasoning behind every sound design choice.

Yodashe is the talented human behind the piece. Hailing from London, she’s fully invested in leftfield and experimental electronica, being particularly at home with modular synthetisers and retro drum machines. ‘Salarywomxn’ was conceived as “a spinoff from a soundtrack and sound design I had done for a Japanese short film (Salaryman 6), as part of an exercise to score a muted film at Uni” – as Yodashe notes.

This explains the ever-evolving nature of the composition, certainly drenched in minimalism and repetitive loops. The listening experience is intense and cathartic, taking the audience onto unexpected territories. A true work of art, one that needs to be enjoyed with calmness and reflection.
