Yafania Shares Evocative Video for ‘Don’t You Want To Be With Me’?

The keen reader might remember Canadian songstress Yafania. Featuring her previous single ‘The Right Guy’ a few months back, we proudly declared it “a dreamy and romantic piece of pop-rock brilliance”, a statement that reveals the artistic commitment Yafania always puts into her lyricism and her music. ‘Don’t You Want To Be With Me?’ is the young creative’s latest effort, partly functioning as a follow-up to ‘The Right Guy’, especially thanks to the accompanying video, pursuing a shared storyline featuring Disney actor Pearce Joza, directed by Said Khallaf.

From a sonic standpoint,  ‘Don’t You Want To Be With Me?’ is a definite step up in Yafania’s short yet hard-hitting career. The guitar tones are fiercer, and the production is more mature and substantial. Her vocals are the cherry on the cake, gracing the track with cathartic energy and resilience in liquid form. The song is extremely relatable, delving into themes of unrequited love and romantic uncertainty.

As Yafania eloquently explains: “It’s a poignant exploration of unspoken love, capturing the frustration and longing that comes with being caught between friendship and romance. Lovers of all kinds have been here before, the dreaded ‘situationship’, a frustrating limbo zone between friendship and romance that isn’t quite one but isn’t quite the other.”
