Witz’s debut EP, ‘A Vague Jaunt EP’, is a Dreamy Wonder

Jeremy Bregman

Matt Kinzy and Joseph Witz make up the Waukesha-based indie dream-pop duo known simply as Witz, and they’ve just released their debut EP in the form of ‘A Vague Jaunt’. Written over the course of a year and a half, the euphoric and chilled-out EP was recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered solely by Witz out of their home studio. “The thinking behind the album was generally accepting change and also accepting who we are as human beings,” says the duo. This thinking is expertly set against a dreamy, wavy, synth-filled soundtrack that conjures up memories of Milky Chance and Tame Impala. It also has guitar solos to match!

Floating away to the reflective tunes on ‘A Vague Jaunt’, one can’t help but be sucked into Witz’s world. A world that understands the importance of going with the flow and that change, ultimately, takes time, as they beautifully point out on ‘Peace’. “Trying to find some peace with where I’m at, and I haven’t yet, but I’m cool with that.”

‘A Vague Jaunt’ is truly an exceptional little EP. We get the feeling that the world will soon be talking about Witz a lot more. And, if their music carries on being this good, it’ll be impossible not to listen!
