Winston Orz Shares Dreamy and Hazy Single ‘Moonwalks’

Built on cloudy and hazy stylings, ‘Moonwalks’ develops with veiled nostalgia and a certain pathos, borrowing from shoegaze and new wave, but ultimately focusing on Winston Orz’s charismatic, evocative vocals. Delivered with calmness and poignancy, the Wilmington-based artist’s tone works perfectly with such a slow tempo and minimal arrangement.

Once the chorus kicks in, the listeners are greeted by quirky harmonies and malleable melodies, creating a vibrant yet understated moment of unfulfilled energy. Featuring a healthy dose of dreamy vibes, the record could be described as a bedroom anthem, although in fairness the sound design is pretty high quality.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the single, Orz explains: “‘Moonwalks’ is literally influenced by introspective walks I take at night (often under moonlight). During these walks my thoughts seem to bounce from one subject to another yet still cling together. Common themes are regret, loss, resignation, hope, fear, joy, and wonder”.
