Will Sims Returns with Mellower EP ‘Hello’

The keen reader will gladly remember Baltimore-based rocker Will Sims. Writing about the project’s previous album ‘You Have a Voice, Use It’, we proudly declared it “intense and hard-hitting”, adjectives that pretty much sum up the artistic charge behind the young American talent. Now, Sims returns with a compelling EP, ‘Hello’, a body of work that’s more eclectic than usual, yet still deeply revealing.

Overall, we find the record to be mellower than Will’s previous efforts, and perhaps it’s due to the EP’s nature; originally, it was meant to be acoustic but was eventually adapted into a full-band project. That’s probably for the best, as we are able to observe and admire Sims’ engaging songwriting from a different perspective. ‘Hello’ and ‘Axiom’ are the two new songs included in the EP, while the rest are old re-purposed material and one cover.

Whichever way you look at it, Will seems to be extremely proud of the final result, partly due to the amount of fellow talented musicians he was able to feature on the record: Joe Ruggiero, Christopher Frick, Collin Athas, Vasco Ramos and Jack O’Connell. As Sims explains:  “I am truly honoured and thankful for the legendary talent I have been able to include on this EP. These guys are among some of the most talented musicians in Baltimore, and deserve to be among any of the well-known artists making music today.”
