We had the chance to write about Wild Child not long ago, celebrating the release of ‘Wearing Blue’, a stunning single we described as a “warm, poignant and gentle jewel.” Now, the Texan outfit is back in force with an impressive record, the album ‘End of the World’, a collection of 12 gems balanced between pop and indie formulas, all drenched into a healthy amount of electronica. Seen the eclectic discography boasted by Wild Child, we greatly welcome their new colourful era, the perfect listen for escapism and well-being.
A pillar of the Austin music community, Wild Child are supported by Reba’s Ranch Records, presenting their latest album with pride. What’s special in ‘End of the World’ is the augmented line-up, with founding members Alexander Beggins and Kelsey Wilson now joined by John Calvin Abney. Described as a ‘new era’, the group seeks to move forward keeping their music crucial and relatable, avoiding auto-referentiality and clichés.
Describing the writing process behind the album, Beggins explains: “It felt like our very first record, when the two of us wrote a bunch of songs while on tour for someone else. There wasn’t any aim to do anything with those songs at the beginning. For the first time since then, that’s how we started writing these songs. We didn’t know if we would make another record. It just came together”.
