Were you looking for an eclectic, multi-genre artist to follow? We might have something for you. Emerging from South Florida, whoskevin configures himself as a producer, singer and songwriter, championing a personal brand of pop music, balanced between guitar-driven rock tones and big, punchy electronic beats. In fact, there’s a bit of everything in it. From wide EDM-flavoured synthesisers to Hip-hop vocals, the project is the fruit of whoskevin’s pure creative research. He is clearly extremely talented.
Debuting earlier this year, the Florida artist has been quite productive; from the beginnings of ‘blood on my sweater’ – a grungy, alt-rock oriented piece – the project has been jumping from track to track, till ‘TheDayYouLeftNothingFeltTheSame’, a peculiar hip hop beat with distorted guitars and kaleidoscopic vocals. Earlier this month, whoskevin followed up with a brand new piece, ‘Looks That Kill’.
The record contains all the strong points we have praised the project for: the ability to shift seamlessly from gritty rocky tones to power electro-pop. whoskevin really is the master of it. Introduced by a haunting riff played by a clean electric guitar, ‘Looks That Kill’ soon evolves into a modern anthem towards infatuation and love, describing the feeling of developing strong feelings for someone. What’s to note, are whoskevin’s rough and grainy vocals, working perfectly with the sonic background they are framed in.
Overall, a worthy release by an interesting creative. Recommended!
