If you follow us regularly, you might remember Waverly Drive, eclectic dream-pop, lo-fi newcomer from California. Featuring his single ‘Darlin’, we proudly declared: “A short burst of energy releasing the intense and uplifting power we long for”. Now, the Los Angeles-based talent returns with his latest effort, the kaleidoscopic and bright gem ‘Now I Know’.
In it, the listener will enter once again Waverly Drive’s fictional sonic universe, a place made up of shoegaze-flavoured guitars, ethereal soundscapes and retro-inspired synthetisers. Drawing massively from new wave and indie pop, the creative newcomer manages to deliver a glorious slice of goodness, a jump into escapism and personal glory.
As he so charismatically reiterates, now he knows – he always did, in our opinion. Going by the name of Phil Galloni by day, Waverly Drive is first and foremost a producer and a musician, working out of the commercial studio he owns (Voltiv Sound). Focusing on writing original material during the pandemic, the project is now ready for a bigger step: an album is indeed expected later this summer. Stay tuned!
