I’m not going to lie…I’ve been desperate to share ‘Decaf Daydream’ with you all. And, today, I’m finally able to! Courtesy of New Jersey-based six-piece Water Street, ‘Decaf Daydream’ is the band’s first single since signing with indie record label Free Dive Collective.
Built on a breezy and optimistic melody, the laidback and nostalgia-laced tune has been described by the act as the perfect song to “enjoy at the beach, on your porch in the morning, or with a cocktail in the evening”. That’s really the beauty of the track…It seamlessly enhances any setting and turns ordinary moments into cherished memories.
Exploring themes of self-doubt and yearning, ‘Decaf Daydream’ exists within someone’s inner thoughts. “Lyrically, it was new for us to write something from the perspective of a person longing for someone, yet also being the thing that’s driving them away,” says lead singer and guitarist Dave Paulson.
A beautifully layered and expertly pieced-together tune, ‘Decaf Daydream’ has completely stolen my heart. With lush strings, smooth vocals, and a delicate piano solo, it envelops the listener in a rich and emotive soundscape that you wish didn’t have to end. Pure perfection!
