Listening to ‘Mellotron’ on this fine morning, I can tell with the utmost certainty that this record will wake you up. Packed with fast-paced trance stylings, the track is dancy yet very hypnotising, favouring wide textures and ever-evolving arpeggios over an underlying old-school beat – something you could have heard in Rotterdam in the early ‘2000. Well, Virtual Jasper hails from Copenhagen, so not that far off!
Taking his talent to the next level, the Danish creative pens a four-minute banger, using mellotron samples as a main narrative, then borrowing massive synth patches and acid-house basslines on top of it. The result is a listening experience that’s electrifying, cathartic and incredibly immersive, helping us escape our chaotic reality – even just for a little bit.
Notably, there’s a stunning music video made in collaboration with Brainchild Creative Studio, making ‘Mellotron’ transcend its musical boundaries and transforming it into an audio-visual piece.
