Emerging from Australia, Vermantics appear to be destined for bigger stages and wider audiences. Championing a sound that’s elegant, relatable yet fierce and hard-hitting, the group explore a friendly brand of rock, blending saturated guitars with poppy vocal hooks and introspective lyricism. Following up on previous single ‘Pneumatic’, Vermantics now returns with their latest effort, ‘Thinking Of You’, a charming exploration of unrequited love and nuanced storytelling.
We particularly appreciate the chorus, packed with gravitas and light poignancy, quite powerful and anthemic. Quite a contrast with the lighter verses, creating a balance that works well in retaining the listener’s attention. Formed by brothers Stefan (vocals/guitar) and Daniel Fedele (bass), Jack Stevenson (guitar) and Julian Perrotta (drums), Vermantics showcase not only advanced musicianship but also surprising songwriting abilities.
Speaking about the record, the band explain: “Thinking of You’ is about trying to find the courage to tell someone how you feel about them. It’s a journal entry, a letter you know you’ll never send.”
