In less than four months, ‘August Rain’, the beautiful and laid-back new tune from Urban Walrus has received over 116,000 plays on Spotify – so he must be doing something right! Fabian Koerber, a Zurich-based multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter, is the brains behind Urban Walrus. His latest track is an expertly produced soft-rock song that keeps things simple (in the best possible way) and allows for Koerber’s outstanding and confident vocals to take front and centre.
Described by the artist as being about “the finitude of being, sudden changes in life, unexpected twists and turns, and the helplessness in the face of our own transcience,” ‘August Rain’ offers us a gentle glimpse into the mind of the low-profile Urban Walrus.
Koerber released his very first single as Urban Walrus, ‘Pie in the Sky’, one year ago. In twelve months, he has been able to rack up over half a million plays on Spotify – a seriously mighty feat! What makes this even more impressive in my view is that he shies away from things like social media, and instead chooses to focus purely on writing and recording his music. I cannot wait to hear what next he has in store!
