The recipient of sweeping success in the mid-2010s, the British group might have slowly drifted out of the spotlight in recent times, yet it still enjoys an excited following. Such a passionate audience now has a reason to be even more loyal, thanks to the release of Until The Ribbon Breaks’ latest single, ‘2025’, just a couple of weeks ago.
The story behind the record is actually pretty curious and intriguing. Written about ten years ago by the project’s frontman and singer Pete Winfield, the song turned out to be rather prophetic, anticipating the sense of emptiness and constant anxiety we are currently experiencing, heightened by technology and social media. As Winfield himself explains: “Filled with alienation and isolation because of technology – leaving us feeling more alone than ever before.” The lyrical concept was certainly ahead of its times and is now incredibly contemporary.
