‘Some Kind of Sympathy’ is the smashing new single from the wonderfully named Alberta-based indie rockers Ultrasonic Zebras. It’s their third release to date, and will feature on the act’s upcoming EP ‘Surfacing’. Produced by Juno Award-winning Velveteen Music in Edmonton, ‘Some Kind of Sympathy’ is a rich, vibrant, and clean tune that has been expertly pieced together. It’s rocky, anthemic, and as far as I’m concerned, ready for a large stadium. Genre-wise, it’s a bit of a toughie to pin down; there are elements of indie and alternative rock, a bit of classic rock ‘n’ roll, and an undercurrent of emo, almost punky attitude. Call it what you like really, it’s a beauty!
Speaking on their upcoming EP, Ultrasonic Zebras say that it has, “a big slice of humanity in it”. With a firm belief that songs should possess a tangible quality, something you can grasp and hold onto, they have worked tirelessly to infuse this notion into the EP. ‘Surfacing’ will also showcase the diverse musical backgrounds of its creators, and you can get an early preview by checking out their previous releases.
‘Some Kind of Sympathy’ is a seriously good track! Ultrasonic Zebras are clearly not here to mess about, and it’s hard to see them going in any direction other than straight towards the top!
