We wouldn’t expect to delve into classic R&B today, but here we are… courtesy of eclectic troubadour Twin Hector, ‘I Like It’ throws us back into the golden days of romantic gems, with a song packed with passion and charisma. Moving at a slow tempo, the record is pretty nostalgic in its production too, with subtle G-Funk references and simple, groovy beats.
Crowning it all, we find Twin Hector’s wonderful vocals, delivered with softness and sultriness. Lyrically, ‘I Like It’ is everything we could ever expect from such an evocative gem. Delving into intimate storytelling, the American singer narrates how healthy communication between lovers works, something that we expect the wider public to relate to.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the single, Hector explains: “I am making the perfect case for why my beloved should acquiesce to my request…”. As expected, since its release the song has climbed to #3 on Most Added Track on R&B radio. Sky’s the limit – or should we say, the bedroom?
