Following up from their 2020 debut EP ‘The Silences’, British songwriting duo and musicians twentytwentysix now returns with an impressive collection of pop-rock and alternative gems, packing them all in an impressive 14-track album, ‘Fake It Till You Make It’. Perhaps making up for any lost time, the pair shares a comprehensive body of work, showcasing the many nuances and influences contained in the project.
Certainly bathing in the great British music tradition, ‘Fake It Till You Make It’ reeks of soft-rock, vintage pop stylings and some psychedelic elements too. Occasionally, electronica makes an appearance, as if paying a tribute to gloomy 80s acts and new wave groups. Eventually, it’s nearly impossible to pinpoint twentytwentysix to a specific genre. Simply, they are propped up by their relatable and expansive songwriting, with the production fully in service of that.
Dominic Manning and Jon Collins are the talented humans behind the album, with the latter in charge of all vocals. Speaking about the inspiration behind their work, they explain: “Songs are stories, reflecting moments in time and creating a sense of perspective: life holds a darkness… but it also holds light, joy and hope.”
