Bringing a fresh, energetic, passionate, and fearless approach to the country rock scene, please give a big welcome to Austin-based band, Trashy Annie. The genre-mixing rockers have just put out their debut full-length album in the form of ‘Sticks & Stones’, and it’s a true sonic rollercoaster from start to finish. Filled (for the most part) with driving guitar riffs, pounding drum work, some unforgettable choruses, and raw, introspective lyrics, it’s a record that punches you in the gut and lives within you long after your first listen.
Tunes like ‘The Leavin’ Kind’ and ‘Drift Away’ showcase a softer and more intimate sound to Annie Davis and Co. How she is able to manipulate and transform her vocals from song to song is a remarkable thing to witness, and serves as further proof of Annie’s musical genius. Let’s not forget, she only picked up a guitar when she was forty-four years old!
Twelve tracks that define the very essence of Trashy Annie, ‘Sticks & Stones’ is one of the most exciting new albums I’ve heard all year! With its country storytelling and classic rock melodies, the original and lively record is one that I can see myself returning to all the time. Here’s to many more, Trashy Annie!
