Transmissions Shares Eclectic and Charming Record

There’s something inherently authentic and real behind Transmissions’ artistic ethos. Refraining from following fading trends or proven formulas, the group appears as a coherent and inspired unit, pursuing their own musical path with pride and character. Also, they “once opened for a Coldplay tribute”, as they so eloquently tell us. That must count for something, right?

We cannot say they have a lot in common with Chris Martin and co., perhaps though with the ‘Parachutes’ era. Building their evocative and theatrical sound over acoustic guitars, fuzzy distortions and folky drums, Transmissions craft material that’s flashy and relatable, but first and foremost human and accessible. ‘Bo Simmo! Just About Got Away With It This Time’ is their latest effort, a self-produced album that’s meant to act as a showcase of what the band is capable of.

There’s something for everyone in it: from furious, raw rock’n’roll (such as ‘We’re on at 10’) to elegant and soulful gems (‘Blunt Axe’) passing through mellower and leftfield offerings (‘Pub Song’). The vocals are very effective and delivered with great pathos and charisma.
