It took us a while to fully understand the ethos behind Transformuse. The Berlin-based duo crafts music that’s highly meaningful and spiritual, blending expansive and ethereal electronica with a rich and eclectic songwriting flair. Echoing themes of self-acceptance and guided introspection, Transformuse reiterate their blessed artistic mission in the upcoming album ‘Holy Shift’, expected later this year, in November.
Mesmerized was lucky enough to get a preview of it: honestly, it’s some of the most evocative and cathartic records we have heard in a while. From a sonic standpoint, ‘Holy Shift’ delves deeply into spacious trip-hop and folktronica formulas, making for an ever-modulating stream of luscious soundscapes and meditative beats. The occasional addition of ethnic tones helps the album reach higher spiritual territories.
Ayam’s spellbinding vocals accompany the listeners through a purifying lyrical journey, embracing the act of transformation and accepting change with an open heart. Listening to ‘Holy Shift’ is rather hypnotising, offering a different perspective on the international music landscape. ChisTala’s nuanced production is the perfect companion to the record’s glorious vocal harmonies, making the album a mandatory stop for anyone willing to discover a deeper level of artistic bliss. Notably, the record also features guest violinist Alexey Kuchetkov.
