The best we could describe Tora Woloshin would be a star in the making. Literally. Mentored by the likes of Simon Cowell, She is a SAG/AFTRA, singer/songwriter, dancer, actress, model and filmmaker, slowly getting her grip on the industry.
Her music is drenched in personal and introspective lyricism, echoing her challenging upbringing and treacherous personal life. After appearing on X Factor USA and sharing global stages with big mainstream names, Woloshing brings her bubbly yet reflective brand of pop and RnB to all of us out there, showcasing powerful vocals and fierce character.
‘True Legacy’ is Woloshin’s latest record, a charming and groovy journey into eclectic Afrobeat and RnB. Sharing a summery feeling during a difficult winter, the track sets up as a freedom-inspired anthem, longing for better times.
Intrigued by the project, we caught up with the American star to find out more about her artistry and future goals. Interview below!
Hey Tora how is it going? it’s an honour to chat with you. What’s the one thing our readers should know about you?
Thank you so much for having me. One thing your readers should know about me is my purpose. Through all of the different mediums that I dabble within art, my goal is to reach Nations, globally and inspire, motivate and heal the world. I especially want my music to create unity in different cultures, bringing them together.
Although you are still young, you can boast a long musical career behind you. is there a moment that felt more special than others? Or a particular experience that changed you for the better?
During XFactor, I would say was a huge game-changer for me. I felt special knowing that Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and LA Reid loved me.
You were lucky enough to be selected for the popular TV show X Factor. Did it help you in growing your career positively?
Yes, it did. It also grew me as an artist and helped me realize how hard I am willing to fight for my rights!
You recently released a new single, ‘True Legacy’. What does the record mean to you?
True Legacy is one of the strongest uniting songs I have yet. I speak Hawaiian, yet haven’t yet been to Hawaii. My dreams of going there to experience such a different culture within the states and the beginning of my full aspiration of uniting the world.
Do you feel more confident writing music alone, or within a team?
Alone, but with the right team I might end up being more comfortable than I’ve ever been.
If you could give a piece of advice to your younger self, what would that be?
DON’T FUCK THIS UP!!! BREATHE…
Artistically speaking, what challenges have the last two years presented you with?
When it comes to my artistry and career, the past two years have been the two most difficult in my entire life. So much loss and so much “failure”. But coming out of it, I am stronger and ready for a life I have never imagined.
What are the next steps for your project? Anything exciting on the horizon?
A lot of things are in the works! One of which is the development of my new film production company, Roadtrip Sideways Eight; where I partner with the amazing cinematographer and producer, Aquavis. I have also jumped into an amazing new partnership with UnclMario Total Media; where we will be releasing a new album, lot’s of videos and a feature film! I am so excited for what is to come and I can’t wait to start releasing some “behind the scenes” footage of the process!
