Wow! We weren’t expecting a major throwback, but here we are. Thanks to Californian duo Tonoso, the keen listener will rejoice in uplifting and bubbly disco and soul stylings, all drenched in strong nostalgia and a retro sonic livery, making it irresistible for any dance-lover music fan around the world. Aptly titled ‘Move Your Feet’, the record showcases once again all the artistic prowess the eclectic duo has to offer, with guest vocals by ex-American Idol celebrity Chikezie Eze.
Comprised of musicians and creatives Jacob Grabb and Paul Salerno, the pair have been hard at work since 2018, managing to take part in notable projects, the likes of the videogame Cyberpunk 2077 and the movie Summertime, among others. Most observed exploring a variety of genres and references, this time Tonoso’s attention lands on pure nostalgia, and we must say – they are keeping it pretty authentic. From the vocals to the instrumental tones, everything seems period-corrected.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the single, they explain: “For this track, we recorded a 30-piece string orchestra, a background choir, live bass and live guitars. We were inspired by classic Motown and disco acts like Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye, with vocal harmony and orchestration inspiration from the Beach Boys”.
