Tom Tikka & The Missing Hubcaps has been one of my favourite musical discoveries of recent times. It started with their upbeat single ‘By 2022’ and then Tom’s incredible full-length album ‘Better Man’ last year. I am now proud to introduce you to ‘Something New’, Tom and Co’s exquisite and deeply personal new tune. “‘Something New’ is about that utterly sad moment when you realize it’s time to leave the person you love behind,” says Tom. It’s a track that serves as a reminder that love alone cannot sustain a relationship. Compatibility is equally essential.
The piano-led and melancholic song shows a side of Tom that I haven’t heard before. It’s absolutely beautiful. Majestic. And it comes across as second nature to the musician. His versatility and range are just incredible! With his signature smooth and warm vocals, it’s yet another tune that Tom and Co should feel immensely proud of having in their discography.
It’s days like today that I remind myself how fortunate I am to be able to do what I love. Discovering music and sharing it with you. And, every once in a while, an artist or band comes along that truly sticks with you. Tom Tikka & The Missing Hubcaps are one such band, and I can’t wait to hear more!
