Some of our readers might be already familiar with Tim Barr. The American musician has been making a name for himself during a long career, going from playing bass for a young Lana Del Rey to receiving critical acclaim for his band’s first album, in 2013. Although he’s got a glorious past, Barr is bound to have an even more glorious future, given the level of his current artistic output. Driving his solo project forward, Tim recently released ‘Secrets’, a mesmerising and hypnotising slice of indie-rock.
The beginning is rather understated, with Barr warming up his vocals through long notes and poignant vibes. Once the chorus hits, we are presented with a gooey, irresistible sonic matter, the sort of distortion every musician dreams about at night. This gives the record a certain shoegaze flair, offering a dynamic and passionate wall of sound with evocative vocals. Feel free to lose yourself in its controlled chaos: no regrets allowed.
Barr recorded ‘Secrets’ at Studio G in Brooklyn with producer Kris Harris. He has also built an analog recording studio in Poughkeepsie, NY, named ‘Lower Oceans Recording’, which is slated to launch later this year. ‘secret’ is a testament to Barr’s immense talent as a songwriter and vocalist. His music is full of emotion and texture, and listeners are sure to be impressed by the new material that is yet to come.
