Based in Leeds, Tillerman have been somewhat of a consistent name in the classic rock scene, at least in the past few years. Their ethos is quite friendly, giving as much attention to their lyricism as they give it to the wholesome blend of rock and pop they seem to enjoy. The group’s music is the sort of relatable material that’s able to appeal to a wide, cross-genre audience – that’s a crucial strength.
After having been silent for the whole of last year, Tillerman returned earlier in the spring with ‘Hear Angels Cry’. Now, the British band unveils their follow-up record, a heartfelt cover version of the classic ‘Nights in White Satin’. The song is interpreted following Tillerman’s own style and formulas, generating an emotional ballad that is a joy to listen to.
Describing the idea behind releasing a cover, the group explains: “To be honest, ‘Nights in White Satin’ really encompasses much of what Tillerman is. We’ve always loved this song and used to play it live as part of our set for a long time, vocally, musically and mood wise it just sings the same tune as we do from an artistic perspective. So it made sense to honour this great song with a modern reworking that we are adding to our debut album. It inspired much of our music.”
