There’s an overwhelming rebellious stance in ‘FAKE FEMINIST’. From its sonic livery – noisy, gritty, sharp and vivid – to its empowering lyricism, the record signals THORN’s honest take on the current music industry landscape, rigged by “clout chasers, naysayers and fake feminists” – as the English creative explains with charisma and confidence. It’s certainly not news, the business around creative arts is often littered with snakes and tricky figures.
THORN tries to confront the problem, packing ‘FAKE FEMINIST’ with genre-bending, leftfield and abstract stylings, showcasing the project’s uniqueness and its bold, majestic character. The intensity is kept up by endless distortion and dark tones, eventually exploding into an all-out, neck-breaking outro, truly a sensory overload. It’s an experience that stays with you for a while afterwards, a sign that THORN really manages to touch the listeners’ inner consciousness.
Self-produced, ‘FAKE FEMINIST’ follows up from a plethora of singles released last year – based on what we’ve heard so far, the project is on its way up – we’ll be here supporting it.
