The Zaramutas is a London-based duo, though you’d never believe only two people were creating such an expansive and inventive sonic landscape. Since their debut EP ‘Christos & the Violet Crown’ in 2021, the pair have been building up a steady and adoring fanbase, and they’ve now unleashed their debut album in the form of ‘Censored’. High energy, passionate, and dare I say even a little angry, it’s a fuzzy and intense record that will have you mesmerized for a good half an hour.
‘Overdue’ gets proceedings underway, and sets the tone perfectly for what’s to come. Fast-paced, powerful, and punchy, it throws you straight into the deep end. ‘Go!’ then follows in a raw and aggressive fashion before the anthemic ‘The Reign of Friend Fear Crow’ makes its appearance.
‘Censored’ is an album full of big guitar riffs, driving grooves, banging drums, and lush vocal harmonies. If I’m being honest, each tune on the record could be dissected and discussed at length. The Zaramuta’s just make that sort of music! And I believe that’s the main reason why we’ve gravitated towards their sound. Here’s to many more from them in the near future!
