The Texas Governor Reimagines Dylan Classics on ‘The Texas Governor vs Bob Dylan’

Perhaps best known for his work with legendary act The Elevator Drops, David Goolkasian is a lifelong musician. He’s also the brains behind a solo music project called The Texas Governor, and he recently unleashed three Bob Dylan cover songs that I’ve fallen deeply in love with. As a Dylan junkie myself, I was sceptical at first, but David and a few other artists have pulled off a masterful homage with their unique interpretations.

First up is ‘Simple Twist of Fate’, the classic tune from ‘Blood on the Tracks’. Offering a grittier and “dirty” take on the song, I just love what David and Co. have crafted, as they bring an edgier and more intense energy to a timeless track.

‘Positively 4th Street’ is the second tune that gets reworked, and I mean reworked! It’s a complete reimagination of the beloved song. Bold and innovative, it’s the perfect showcase of just what The Texas Governor is all about.

‘Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right’ from ‘The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan’ is the final track to get a makeover, and delivers another fresh and compelling take that captivates from start to finish. Sublime!
