Do you all remember The Stolen Moans? We featured them earlier this year, sharing their previous single ‘Bard-Inspired, Treachery, Chaos & Heartbreak’, celebrated by us as “a slice of unfiltered energy and pure charisma”. The Los Angeles group has a pretty clear idea about their sound, blending everything from fierce punk-rock to evocative gothic-style vocals.
Now, they return to the global spotlight with ‘Morning Scars’, a piece that showcases the project’s mellower side, yet the most hypnotising, in our opinion. Introduced by repetitive and gloomy musical stylings, the track includes eerie-like sounds and leftfield guitar tones, providing the perfect match for lead singer Vivian’s anthemic and melancholic vocals. As always, the vocal delivery is wrapped in otherworldly effects, giving it a rather mysterious aura.
The dystopian character of ‘Morning Scars’ also greatly reflects its songwriting inspiration, built around society’s tumultuous and fragmented political landscape. As Vivian explains: “We’re living through an era where it feels like every win is met with more losses, but we believe that no matter how fragile society seems if we come together with empathy and determination, we can walk unbowed through the toughest of times.”
