The Sex Guys Return with Charming Single ‘Tin Foil Hat’

More than a year has passed since ‘We Are Not Your Friends’ was released, yet The Sex Guys didn’t rest on their laurels. Instead, the Australian group is now unveiling a much-welcome return to the international punk and garage scene, ‘Tin Foil Hat’. In it, the keen reader will witness the band’s 2.0 era, steeped into a familiar sound that’s slightly more refined and controlled, and spoken words that lean into a more elegant, polite character – until they don’t.

Of course, The Sex Guys are still going to scream in the choruses, and we wouldn’t expect anything else. Yet, verses are delivered with an attitude that reminds us of the likes of British outfit Yard Act, among others. It’s an enticing formula that adds tons of allure to the Australian group. We are looking forward to hearing more! From a songwriting standpoint, ‘Tin Foil Hat’ does exactly what it says on the tin (I know, I know), by delving into the quirky psyche of conspiracy-driven human beings.

Speaking more in detail about the inspiration behind the record, Dennis Levonis explains: “The song is about frustrations of dealing with someone knee-deep in conspiracy theories. I say knee-deep because they only have surface-level info – they’re not at the balls-deep level, where people in suits would be after them. This song is about those guys. And flat Earth bros – they’re wrong too.” Furthermore, there’s an upcoming music video too, shot in collaboration with Max Visual Media.
