Wait a second! I have already written about The Screaming Pope in the past… uhmmm let’s see… searching the article in our archives… and there it is! ‘Overboard’ – an eclectic album I enthusiastically described as “spanning a plethora of genres and characters with unwavering charisma and blissful confidence”. Wow. Guess what? Not resting on his previous successes, the American musician is back at it, unveiling another long and diverse record, ‘The Value of Priceless’.
In it, George Bolton does what he does best: he navigates the full spectrum of modern popular music and pulls in the most heterogeneous influences, diving into pop, indie, hip-hop, and finally his roots, electronic music. Boasting 14 kaleidoscopic offerings, ‘The Value of Priceless’ will positively surprise the listener: from dance anthems such as ‘A Passion’, to emotional and soulful gems (‘A Broken Heart’), passing through abstract ambient pieces – the closing chapter ‘Avallion (Erith)’.
There’s something for everyone in it, perhaps that’s the message underlying it all – it’s a record which works across the board, functioning as a great equalizer, while showcasing The Screaming Pope’s incredible talent. Well done!
