The Pink Dust is a Texas-based musical duo made up of renowned bass guitarist Roy Mitchell-Cardenas and multi-instrumentalist Cliff Littlefield. Last month, they unleashed a brand new single called ‘1AM’, and it absolutely floored me when I first heard it. Maybe it was my state of mind…I’m not entirely sure…but the tune had a profound impact on me and brought up a whirlwind of emotions and feelings. Is it alternative rock? Soft rock? Dream-pop? To be completely honest with you – I don’t care! It’s haunting and beautiful and hypnotic and simply brilliant.
The duo cite acts like The Beatles, The Cure, The Smiths, and Mutemath as their main influences. Incidentally, Roy was the bassist for Mutemath for over ten years and has collaborated with bands like Twenty One Pilots, Linkin Park, Incubus, and Thirty Seconds to Mars. Not bad company to keep!
I’m thrilled to see that there’s a wealth of The Pink Dust’s music still to discover, and I can’t wait to dive straight in! As for their plans going forward: “We intend to release a new song each month for the next year” they say. Yes, please!
