The Optimists Dive Into Something Heavier on New Single ‘Not a Big Deal’

After a seriously successful 2023, Isle of Wight-based indie-rockers The Optimists return with their fiercest and most explosive sound yet in the form of ‘Not a Big Deal’. Keen to explore a sonically heavier path, the five-piece turned to bands like The Hives and other 00s indie acts for inspiration. The result is an in-your-face, high-octane, and no-holds-barred anthem that will unquestionably light up festival stages and ignite crowds with its electrifying energy.

“‘Not a Big Deal’ is about having a carefree attitude without the consequences of others,” says frontman Matt Read, who wrote the lyrics after a rough December left a bitter taste towards someone. Transforming his personal conflict into a rallying cry for independence, Read and Co. has crafted an impassioned and potent tune that showcases the outfit’s musical evolution and raw intensity.

Gearing up to perform at the legendary Victorious Festival in August, The Optimists’ stock is most certainly on the rise. And, with a decent catalogue already to their name, there’s more than enough of their music to sink your teeth into! Dive in…the water’s warm!
