The Northern Light Returns with Full Homonym Album

When delving into ‘The Northern Light’, one must be ready to deal with dynamic yet wholesome pop-rock, the kind of material that’s relatable and friendly, while still drenched in fuzzy saturation and chaotic drum grooves. We love it: the album has got character and drive, showcasing the work of a talented band with a pretty clear idea of what they stand for. Essentially, you could categorize the album as a blend of rock, folk and pop energy, all melting together to create this supercharged style that oozes charisma and gravitas.

David Pollon is The Northern Light’s (yes, the album is the band’s homonym) head honcho, and the guy who kickstarted the whole project. Also featuring on lead vocals and guitar, Pollon possesses a natural flair for theatrical, almost dramatical lyricism, delivered through a rather dark and poised vocal tone. Kip Rondorf and Carl Larsson complete what’s a very compelling line-up.

We are particularly fond of ‘Sunshine in a Bottle’, a track that perfectly captures the balance between eclectic musicianship and expressive lyricism. What more could you want? Don’t sleep on this record!
