Historically, music has always been a powerful outlet for rebellion and political expression. Some of the biggest changes in our society were fuelled by particularly talented and visionary artists, driving the future forward in unconventional ways. Rock’n’Roll was certainly part of the mix, providing a vicious and furious outlook on a disappointing reality. Canadian duo The Noise seeks to do the same, by channelling their refined artistries towards a common goal. Inspired and horrified by the recent tumultuous protests in Iran, the pair wanted to take a definite stand against its regime, especially echoing the tragic death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, who was killed by Iran’s religious morality police for not wearing her hijab correctly.
‘One’ is the song chosen for the delicate mission. Their first release in 2023, the record showcases the character of a group that’s not only musically talented, but also socially responsible, knowing full well they must be part of the change. As a guitar and drums duo (Kash Majd and Matt Laffrenier), The Noise builds a modern take on indie genres, championing fuzzy tones and an exhilarating, pumping rhythm, helping convey the need for swift action by the international community.
Describing the artistic vision behind the track, Majd explains: “We wanted to lend our music and voice in support of Mahsa and every other woman facing religious discrimination. We hope our song will help their message reach a wider audience and inspire others to join the fight for human rights.”
It certainly will. Join the fight, listen to The Noise today:
