The Muster Point Project Offers Up Sunny New Indie-Folk Gem ‘The Singing Mailman’

Detailing the discovery of legendary American singer/songwriter and country-folk hero John Prine by famed movie critic Roger Ebert, ‘The Singing Mailman’ is the smashing new single from The Muster Point Project. Based in Canada and led by Kevin Franco, we’ve been firm admirers of the outfit for some time, and every new release showcases a deeper level of creativity and mastery.

Introducing a charango and a mandolin to proceedings, Kevin and Co. craft a sunny, indie-folk tune that feels upbeat and joyful. A pedal steel guitar played by Jon Graboff (Ryan Adams, Willie Nelson) infuses the track with a nostalgic charm and a twangy warmth, while Kevin’s smooth and expressive vocals just seal the deal of yet another faultlessly assembled song by The Muster Point Project.

It was only two months that we were fortunate enough to catch up with Franco and, at the time, he mentioned he’d spent a lot of time in South America. Speaking of that influence, Kevin said ‘The Singing Mailman’ was a “tune featuring the Charango, a folk instrument from Northern Chile and Bolivia which I purchased while touring the Atacama desert earlier this summer”.

‘It Was Here He Received His Only Formal Education’, a new twelve-track offering from the project, is set to be released later next month. Yup, you guessed it…I’m beyond ready to press play!
