The Missing Note Releases Beautiful and Poignant Tribute to Late Friend, ‘A Song for Jase’

In the wake of the untimely passing of a dear friend, The Missing Note has sought to immortalize his/her life with a tribute single. Featuring Dan Tremblay on percussions, Heartblood on backing vocals and soprano, and MusiJB on cello, ‘A Song for Jase (2022 Redux)’ is a reminder of the power of connection and the beauty of life.

But who’s The Missing Note? Maintaining a thin veil of mystery around the project, we are informed that at the heart of it lies Kenneth, a multi-instrumentalist and composer building ambient-like soundscapes with electronic elements and a heavily processed electric guitar. With his shared love of granular music and cinematic scores, The Missing Note has definitely struck a chord here, showcasing exceptional prowess in creating sonically satisfying compositions and ethereal pieces.

‘A Song for Jase’ was recorded in a home studio and separate tracks were sent to collaborating artists for remote recording. This process allowed Kenneth to create a work that is truly unique and that speaks to the emotions that come with both celebrating life and mourning loss.

Speaking about the making of the record, The Missing Note explains: “The song was originally released in Dec ’21 as a memorial to a friend who passed away from cancer. As the anniversary date drew close last year, I realized a lot of my music-making stemmed from that particular emotion of losing a bond but also the gratitude of having the opportunity to build memories and connections with them. These are the things that stay with us. So, I wanted to portray characteristics in the remake.”
