The Margaret Hooligans Gear Up for Upcoming Album with ‘The StoneHengers’

Well well well… if it isn’t The Margaret Hooligans! Returning after a short break, the American garage, punk and noise duo shares their latest effort, ‘The StoneHengers’, a sharp and eclectic fierce number which is as sonically playful as it is lyrically nuanced. In it, keen listeners will find the group’s signature stylings, including their electric ukulele and primal drum grooves.

Featuring flat and crunchy distortions, ‘The StoneHengers’ keeps the overall arrangement very organised, leaving ample space for the pair’s lead vocals – who on this occasion have a certain retro quality to them. Perhaps it’s the record’s lo-fi character that tricks us into thinking that; we also love the cowbell and the many percussions, really making the record way more eclectic and groovy.

Lyrically, The Margaret Hooligans have always been outspoken on meaningful social issues and political opinions. This time they still are, only filtering their discourse within cryptic songwriting and euphoric hooks. A record to discover with care and patience – while looking out for the group’s upcoming album later this year.
