One of the interesting things about The Levy Circus is that their lineup includes a couple of university professors. You didn’t see that coming, did you? Well, safe to say, their musical qualities match their academic prowess: ‘Tales of the Unconnected’ reveals a project that’s firmly placed on witty, melodious songwriting with a slightly nostalgic flair.
Bathing in rock’n’roll and bluesy stylings, the album sees The Levy Circus “make up for lost time” – as they call it. Spearheaded by Endocrinology professor Miles Levis, the group now extends to a large collective, with Graham Jones, Ammar Al-Chalabi (professor of Neurology), Eddie Giacobbe and Oscar Muto completing a talented lineup. Their album doesn’t lie: there’s something real here.
Indulging in relatable songwriting and Americana-like hymns, ‘Tales of the Unconnected’ seeks to explore personal experiences and human nature, all crowned by Levis’ honey-like and elegant vocals. As the band explain: “A journey through different parts of the human condition”.
