Music can be a powerful conductor for meaningful messages. We know it, THE HYBRIS know it too. The group released their new single earlier this month, ‘What if’. It’s themed around climate change and the need for more environmental responsibility, making the track a worthwhile listen, and an obligatory share. Frankly, we appreciate it when music is used to stimulate growth and change; THE HYBRIS seek to empower the younger generation, as well as the older ones, into saving our planet before it will be too late. If not, they explain: “Our kids will pay for it”.
Wait a sec, who are those guys? Well, they are a very talented band actually. Originally from Germany, the trio is now distributed between their motherland, France and the US. A truly international band, if there’s ever been one, they champion a gentle brand of alt-rock, favouring catchy, clear melodies over raw guitars. Nonetheless, you can perceive undeniable energy in their music, perhaps the remnants of a past spent as rockers in various formations.
‘What if’ confirms what was said above: although its lyricism is aimed at a wider audience, its instrumental prowess is punchy and gritty, showcasing the band’s great musicianship next to heartfelt songwriting. Overall, a record we should all listen to. But more importantly, share far and wide!
