The Hinterland Share Relatable Single ‘Biology’

Introduced by a luscious and intricate tapestry of guitars and piano, ‘Biology’ soon transforms into an emotional pop-rock anthem, a nostalgic and intense journey into vibrant, poignant melodies and relatable songwriting. Spearheaded by London-based outfit The Hinterland, the single is as rewarding as one would expect: the listening experience is extremely meaningful and melancholic, yet instilling a sense of hope and confidence.

Oliver Bailey wrote, produced and mixed the song, in an impressive display of holistic musicianship. The track sounds really good, successfully blurring the line between rock and pop with witty solutions; while distortions are often present, so are spacious keys and piano, allowing the record to stay as neutral as possible. The Hinterland’s charming lead vocals then seal the deal.

Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Biology’, Bailey explains: “I’m often drawn to the power of love and desire as a negative force. We are animals who succumb to natural instinct even when it’s unhealthy or destructive. For others, seeing such a situation unfold from the outside, it’s easy to see the error and the futility of it.” Look out for The Hinterland’s upcoming album.
