Among the brightest finds in my musical journey this year has undoubtedly been Leicestershire-based act The Gerry Farrow Band. The hauntingly beautiful ‘Giving Up‘ was my introduction to the outfit, followed by their incredible debut EP ‘Drink (To the Music in My Head)‘. Now, back with a brand new single titled ‘Take Me With You,’ Gerry Farrow and Co. concoct yet another stunning piece of music.
A poignant and evocative gem, the band’s latest offering is a folky and heartfelt tune featuring one of the best vocal performances I’ve heard in some time. Taking listeners on an acoustic and compelling adventure, ‘Take Me With You’ tells a tale of a man coming to terms with the regret of leaving his longtime partner. Realising that his chance to make things right has slipped away, it’s a melancholic and deeply profound track that lingers long after its final note.
With a collection of influences closely resembling my CD rack; The Waterboys, The Beatles, Neil Young, and R.E.M., The Gerry Farrow Band continue to craft music that speaks right to the soul. I couldn’t be more grateful to have stumbled upon this act, and can’t wait to hear what they get up to next!
