The Figurant’s Frontman Matt McClure Unveils Latest Album ‘Recurring Orphans’

As a recovering alcoholic and drug addict, Las Vegas-based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Matt McClure uses his personal struggles to inform the music he creates. The artist recently unveiled his brand new album ‘Recurring Orphans’ earlier this month, and it’s a twelve-track indie-rock masterpiece that seeks to alleviate isolation and make people feel less alone. Vulnerable, introspective, and profoundly honest, it’s a record that has been expertly crafted and pieced together, and it sees Matt welcoming us into his complex world with open arms.

The album’s title track is also its first, as ‘Recurring Orphans’ gets things up and running. A gritty, raw, and heartfelt tune, it sets the perfect tone and atmosphere for the upcoming sonic journey. ‘Woven Women’ then follows and shows off a more poppy and upbeat side of the musician, allowing for Matt’s versatile and adaptable musical prowess to shine through!

Other standout songs on the album, personally, were ‘Decorative Affection’, ‘Terrible Ideas’, ‘Hasbros’, and the record’s closer ‘Our Name’. If I’m being completely honest though, it’s an album you’re going to want to listen to in its entirety. It’s epic from start to finish and, with two previous LPs already to his name, I can’t wait to dive further into his discography!
