It’s not our first rodeo with The Dust Collectors. In fact, not long ago we were featuring their EP ‘Hanlon’s Razor’, proudly declaring: “jumping from soul-rock to Americana and country influences, the record is a real treasure trove of nostalgic rock”. Now, the Calgary-based outfit returns with an even bigger release, a stunning album that collects their two last EPs into a cohesive package, showcasing the group’s fierce identity and impressive productivity.
‘Outside In’ is first and foremost a journey into American tradition. From earthy and friendly rock, to more nuanced and nostalgic folk, passing through uplifting and melancholic country: it all could be a fitting soundtrack for a long Western movie. The Dust Collectors seem familiar with the idea, boasting charming cowboy hats in all their press photos.
What’s peculiar in this case is the band’s vocal prowess; all members contribute to their vocal harmonies, even sharing lead singer duties! That’s something unique to The Dust Collectors, who confirm themselves as a collaborative effort, the work of talented minds all connecting together.
