Sit back, relax, kick off your shoes, and get ready to enjoy the jangly and infectious new single from the Los Angeles-based act The Daytime High. It’s the band’s third tune to date and sees them finding inspiration from 60s rock legends like The Byrds and The Beatles, but also more recent acts like The La’s and The Stone Roses. The outcome is four and a half minutes of nostalgia-laced melodies that somehow sound familiar yet fresh at the exact same time. Pure bliss! Micael Fredrik Johansson’s lead vocals fit into proceedings superbly – and there’s a warmth and richness in his voice that is simply inescapable.
‘Pandemonium’ beautifully captures the age-old tale of the search for a partner. “The song is about the desire for someone to come along on your chaotic ride that is life,” says the band. It’s a poignant reminder that despite life’s unpredictability and inherent challenges, having someone by our side who understands and shares our journey can bring profound comfort and meaning.
The Daytime High also cite The Kinks, Primal Scream, Radiohead, and Pink Floyd as a few other influences, and it’s this wonderfully eclectic mix that has given the act its unique and distinct sound. It’s a sound that I’m really digging at the moment and can’t wait to hear more of!
