A rather short offering, ‘PARASITE’ hits the listeners thick and fast, wrapping them in playful, sleazy rock euphoria. It only lasts for 2 minutes and 50 seconds, but that’s enough for us to get familiar with The Chris Ruben Band. Hailing from the US, the six-piece outfit is first and foremost the bearer of impressive musicianship, as clearly observed in ‘PARASITE’.
Built over fuzzy distortions, furious guitar riffs and saloon-like piano efforts, the single also leaves ample space for Ruben’s lead vocals, fierce and malleable, crowning the record with its charisma and confidence. In fact, ‘PARASITE’ anticipates an upcoming album expected later this year, and judging by what we are hearing now, we are in for a stunning record.
Avid performers and recognised entertainers, The Chris Ruben Band has all the right cards to make a name for themselves globally. Speaking about the single, they explain: “It’s as if someone gave Mickey Mouse a speedball and set him loose on a community of kind and neighbourly people. Terror but sweet”.
